Glossary of TV Production Terms:
Program Billboard or Program Update: a 7 second message that gives the client a chance to be seen as a sponsor of popular programming. The benefit to the client is to increase name awareness while being seen as connected with popular programming.

Closed Captioning: a 10 second message that provides the client a chance to increase awareness of their organization to anyone watching a closed captioned program. This option also provides the client with the valuable opportunity of being seen as an organization committed to the important service of providing closed captioning of programming to the hearing impaired.

:15-Second Commercials: perhaps it’s the result of so called ‘shorter attention spans’, but the :15 is an emerging trend in commercial length. It provides a client with the opportunity to advertise a quick-hit of information. Plus, with the improvement and relative ease of creating complex computer based graphic designs, the 15-second commercial can contain a surprising amount of information.

:30-Second Commercials: considered a more traditional length, the :30 is still going strong. It is, however, now considered a longer length commercial. Once again because of the improvement of graphic design and computer based editing, a tremendous amount of information can go into a :30 second commercial. Increasingly, organizations are using this length to tell entire stories.

Corporate Video: any production over the length of 1 minute that will not be broadcast, but may be used to promote an organization or idea internally, at functions, or delivered on DVD’s to be viewed at the consumers own pace. Global Winnipeg Creative Services has branched out very successfully with its corporate production division, each year welcoming back previous clients, and building new relationships with some of the thousands of individuals and organizations who are viewing productions we’ve created for our other clients.
