About UsThe story of Global TV Lethbridge is in fact the story of television broadcasting in Southern Alberta. CJLH TV as it was known then was the first TV station on the air south of Calgary, and it remains first in the hearts of many to this day. It was November 20th, 1955 when the power switch was thrown, and Channel 7 - CJLH TV, a network affiliate of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was officially on the air. Over the course of the next 50 years the station has assumed many changes in call letters. From CJLH, we became CJOC, then CFAC, next was 2&7 Lethbridge, CISA, then Global Television. Our station has deep roots in this community and we reflect that in the programming that we produce. Throughout our history we have been recognized with numerous awards for the quality of our shows. We take great pride in the fact that we have received more Can Pro awards than any other English language market. A respected voice for News in Southern Alberta, we are the ONLY Television Station with a 6pm Supper News seven days per week, for 1 hour each day. We are also the only media in Southern Alberta that offers an 11pm News and that is also broadcast seven days per week. Plus, we host a 1/2 hour community events show called Scene & Heard daily at 12:30pm which is repeated each night at 11:30pm. Just recently, in May 2008, Global Lethbridge was awarded the RTNDA award for Best Newscast in a small market (prairie region), so our tradition of excellence continues. |
