As British Columbia’s leading television station, with its flagship ‘News Hour’ broadcast, Global BC is the place more British Columbians turn to for local news than any other newscast. With a team of experienced and trusted journalists, Global BC provides viewers with award-winning journalism, digging deeper to find the truths behind major issues that matter most to residents, and unique stories that that they won’t find anywhere else.

Global BC operates from studios on 7850 Enterprise Street in Burnaby. Our first broadcast from this building aired October 31, 1960. Since then, we've expanded our operations to produce 48.5 hours of award-winning news programming each week. In the Vancouver area CHAN also known as Global, can be viewed on Cable 11 Channel 8. On Star Choice it's on Channel 336, ExpressVu 252 and Shaw HD 217. Formerly known as BCTV, the station changed its name to Global BC as part of the WIC acquisition in 2001 by Canwest.

Global BC has garnered numerous awards not only for their stellar journalism but also for their achievements as an outstanding corporate citizen. Servicing the community in the Lower Mainland since 1967, Global BC participates in a wide range of community activities. The focus of Global BC is not only to inform and entertain their community, but to seek partnerships within and participate in a wide range of festivals and events.

Major charitable organizations that Global BC has supported include Variety the Children’s Charity and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Recently, Global BC launched the "Be A Superhero: Campaign for BC Children" fundraising initiative in conjunction with the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation to support the construction of a new Acute Care Centre.

Global BC has partnered with other charities and organizations extending across British Columbia, building strong relationships with such organizations as Lions Society of BC, United Way of the Lower Mainland, BCSPCA, and the MS Society. Through these partnerships Global BC has supported the growth of community events and festivals throughout Greater Vancouver and our commitment to future philanthropy continues.
